About Patrick...
Patrick White is the owner of Westlake Lessons, as well as a patient, positive, and enthusiastic teacher of Guitar and Piano. Patrick began learning guitar in his teen years and quickly fell in love with the Guitar. In High School, Patrick began songwriting with friends and performed with multiple bands. His passion for songwriting led Patrick towards an appreciation for Music Theory and college level music courses where he started developing his Piano playing.
Patrick studied classical guitar, jazz guitar and music recording technology at James Madison University, where he earned a Bachelor's of Music Degree for classical guitar in 2009. He has been teaching ever since in private lessons, group lessons and rock band coaching formats.
Patrick believes in making music lessons a fun and unique experience for each of his students. By finding songs that students know and love from their own experience and arranging them to fit the students' experience level, students are fully engaged while their finger dexterity, speed and strength improve.
“I am a strong proponent of teaching students to read music notation, as well as guitar tableture notation, so that students have a strong foundation of music literacy which aids in other core musical concepts.”
